Great weather for the Old Crow this past Saturday. I got there just in time before the start of the A-B race to wish Hayden good luck in the B Sportsman row. I didn't see him but Rick was on the line a couple rows in front with the A Seniors. Their race had a A-B only section right off the start. Immediately after the 180 degree first turn there was a sharp right straight up one of those Carnegie hill climbs. They wound around out of site for 30 seconds then straight down an even steeper hill that was twice as long! The AA guys actually gassed it off the top! Lucky for the C Sportsman and Senior races the Roosters took that one out. Both Hayden and Rick had good races with Rick finishing in the top 10 in his class.
I looked all over the rows on the C Sportsman and Vet race but no Polka Dots showed up. I guess the toll from E-Street was too much for Tom, Chris, Rich and Joe to recover from.
The last race up was the Senior Race. We had a pretty good showing with Ernie in the B Seniors, Kevin and Probate Steve in the Senior Plus, and Limey and Dean in the Super Seniors. Kevin's son Travis also was in his first race on the 250 in the Junior Sportsman class.
Ernie had a great start rounding the first turn in 4th or 5th. I made over to a section before the home check in time for Ernie to yell out "I'm Done". I don't know what happened but he must have had some troubles out there somewhere. Limey also had a good start in 3rd after the first turn. I never did see him come around to the home check either. Later in the race I saw him in his civies talking to Unkle Moose. Turns out he got t-boned not to far off the start and rammed into a t-post. His day was over with a nice limp to go with it. Dean and Probate Steve had good better results. Both completed lots of laps and looked strong at the finish. I didn't wait around for the results but I'm sure both had top finishes. Kevin and Travis kept chugging around lap after lap both of them also finished the race.
Conditions were great, the course looked fun, I wish I had of got up earlier to race!!! I'm sure Rob felt the same way. The Roosters talked him into sweeping for the weekend and he also wished he was racing instead of helping.
