This week I’d like to start off by saying sometimes just getting to the races is more than ½ the battle! Only racers can fully understand what I’m talking about when things seems to go wrong at the last minute before leaving to a race and all we can think about is how were gonna make it there when the extra forces of evil are against us! Were wired different, there is a reason our wives, neighbors, normal non racing friends look at us crazy, its because we ARE, and after you didn’t hook up that trailer properly in your driveway and jumped out of your truck to save the runaway trailer only to look up and see your truck ghost riding down your driveway and into a tree, oops didn’t put it in park!! Totaled V’d truck no big deal, saved the trailer and the bikes!!!.Back truck up squealing into your driveway, load bikes in buddys truck and tell wife you’ll deal with it after you get back from race!! HUH ! WHAT? Ray Kirchner you’re the man! Now only if you had a friend that owned a body shop? Lets go racing dammit!!!
We had a busy weekend with the CC crew attending the OLD CROW at Carnegie Hosted by the Red Neck Roosters. Congratulations to the club for getting it back after four years of it being off the calendar. Our other Dot enduro riders came out of hibernation for the first family enduro of the year at the Cross Cut Family Enduro, at Cow Mountain. The conditions couldn’t have been any more different at the two places. Carnegie welcomed us with windy, dry, dusty conditions where as the Enduro was about as moist and wet as it could get, and rained on Friday night, apparently Jason Durigan likes cold wet diamond plate truck beds to camp in, refer to paragraph one on the crazy part!
Our Carnegie youth racers were first up on Saturday and JT Baker continued his charge in the AA class with a 1st AA and 1st O/A with Calum Campbell taking 2nd AA and 2nd O/A. Max Parker took a strong 2nd A85 6th O/A , Mason Parker 6th B85 14th O/A and Brandon Stoffel 8th B85 16th O/A.
Money line C Seniors also raced on Saturday and Ray Kirchner probably should have listened to the forces of evil and stayed home as he destroyed his bike radiator on the first lap and ended with DNF !! Totalled Truck and Broken bike Radiator! What a great weekend, which left Kevin Roe all alone for 13th as he pulled off the last lap with a flat tire.
Sunday our B class Dots we had JT Baker taking an overall in the B class, 1st B-250 and 1st Overall by 1:26!! WOW, Congratulations kiddo welcome to the A class!!! Nice Job Steve Hintze coming out of hiding to win the B-Vet class by :11 seconds! 1st Bvet 17th O/A. Ty Baker gutted it out with torn ACL and took a 3rd B Open and 11 O/A. Calum Campbell rounded it out with a 16th B-250 33rd O/A. Max Parker edged out his little bro in the highly competitive C-200 class for a 5th 43 O/A and Mason Parker a 6th and 45 O/A, keep after him Mason you’ll get him one of these times!
There is no results yet for our Enduro riders. Conditions looked EPIC, So I’ll just go out on a limb to how I heard they stacked up against each other. Andy Rewinkle took top honors beating Mike Fallon by a mere 13 seconds and apparently winning a side bet, I heard Justin Jensen apparently rang his bell pretty good but came in behind Mike, and the rest following Dave Desrosiers, Bret Eckert (burnt check), Keith Collins , Joe Dowd, Jim Piatt, Bruce Hendrickson, and Jason Durigan rode his first enduro with his son. Congrats to all the Dots getting out for a race!
Next up is Shasta National HS this weekend followed by Virginia City!!
So until next time, make sure to put the truck in park while exiting, this is your Rhodes Captain over and out!!!
