It was a wild and crazy night at the Lodi Cycle Bowl this Aug. 16, 2008. The intermission between the 'heat' races and the 'main' races was at least an hour and one half, so Frank and I left before the main. Anyway, Mark Tustin won the first heat race and Thomas Pocus-in-Focus won the second heat race. Mark Tustin ended up winning the main, overalling the Dots on this night.
We got some pictures from Bill Buffington, and I got an onboard camera video from the top of Ryan Mushrush's helmet.
The helmet camera video for the 2nd heat race did not come out, as it was too dark.

From Bret Eckert: They had computer problems setting up the mains. Could have really used Cliff's expertise!
They ended up starting the mains around 11pm. We were Main #15 and our race started around 12:30. We still got 6 laps. After they split up us into two heats to qualify for starting positions the main stacked up like this: Front row: Mark, Tom, Ernie, Mike, Hayden Back row: Ryan, Bret, Tom's Bro, Bill B, John
Mark (sandbagger) Tustin grabbed the holeshot and held on for the win even after a strong challenge for the lead on the last lap by Hayden (young gun) Florez. On the last lap Hayden grabbed the lead on the jump section back into the track. However, in the next corner Mark used his car stock car experience to manuver back into the lead and hold on through the next sweeper, jump and into the finish.
The surprise on the night was Tom (helmet man) Pocus. He won his heat and finished a strong third not far behind Mark and Hayden. I think a set of Class C tires and a steel shoe are in his future.
Mike was down on power on his 250X but rode solid for the night to finish up in fourth. Ernie did a burnout prior to the start to get his tire sticky for the start. The hot tire worked too good as he stalled it and was left watching everyone else take off towards the tree turn. He made up for giving everyone a head start by catching up and finishing behind Tom for fifth. Tom's brother carded a sixth, Bret seventh and Ryan eighth.
Bill B and John left after waiting two hours for the main posting as John wasn't having the best night of his life.
We had good pit support with Bill F, Joe D, SuperChuck, Frank and Cliff cheering us on.
